Chip Ganassi Racing initially raced in the IRL with Juan Pablo Montoya and Jimmy Vasser in the 2000 Indy 500 won by rookie Montoya. In 2001 they returned to Indy with Vasser, Bruno Junqueira, Nicolas Minassian, and NASCAR's Tony Stewart, who would also compete in that evening's Coca-Cola 600. But in neither year did they run the entire IndyCar Series season. For 2002, Ganassi made the jump to the IndyCar Series full-time with Jeff Ward driving one car, with the addition of Ganassi's two CART Championship drivers Kenny Bräck and Bruno Junqueira at Indianapolis. None of those three would drive for Ganassi in 2003; the replacements were Scott Dixon (a midseason addition to Ganassi's Champ Car team in 2002) and Tomas Scheckter.[4] Dixon won three races and the series championship while Scheckter struggled and was released from his contract. Tony Renna was to replace him, but had a tragic testing crash at Indianapolis that claimed his life.[5] Englishman Darren Manning wound up in the seat for 2004. The team's performance suffered the next two seasons and when Manning was fired, a bevy of drivers ran in Ganassi's cars, among them former Formula One test drivers Ryan Briscoe and Giorgio Pantano, and Jaques Lazier. For 2006, Target Ganassi Racing scaled back to two cars, with Dixon returning along with 2005 Indianapolis 500 Champion Dan Wheldon, whom Ganassi signed away from Andretti Green Racing in the offseason.[4][6] The team also changed to Honda engines (along with all ...
Izod Lotus: I made this version based on comments of trackforum, so I correct the misspelled SeAbring and I removed the background music, I hope you will enjoy more now. Izod Lotus adding some miles to their car as part of their test schedule prior the 2012 season. Simona de Silvestro was in charge of the Lotus-powered HVM Racing car for the session, and she completed 161 laps over the course of the eight hours of testing and was more than ready for a break by the end of the day. De Silvestro was joined out on track by Honda cars driven by Simon Pagenaud (Sam Schmidt Motorsports) and Scott Dixon (Target Chip Ganassi Racing), and by five cars running Chevrolet engines: Penske's Helio Castroneves and Ryan Briscoe; Panther Racing's JR Hildebrand; KV Racing's Tony Kanaan; and Andretti Autosport's Marco Andretti.

2009 Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg IndyCar Series Streets of St. Petersburg April 5, 2009 In what was the very first telecast for VS in the IndyCar Series, Ryan Briscoe won the 2009 Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg against hard-charging drivers Ryan Hunter-Reay and Justin Wilson, who led the most laps. The video begins with IndyCar Central, VS's pre-race show. Also included are some IndyCar Non-Stop commercial breaks. Picture quality not great for a 2009 race in my opinion but at least I have VS; I know many others do not. Results: www.racing-reference.info Credit to VS.
2008 Nikon Indy 300 IndyCar Series Streets of Surfers Paradise October 26, 2008 For you IndyCar enthusiasts, I share the final running (for now, I hope) of the Nikon Indy 300, the long-running IndyCar street course race in the streets of Surfers Paradise, Australia. This is the tape-delayed ESPN2 version. It's one of my favorite races and racetracks of all time and I really miss this street circuit for the Izod IndyCar Series. Because the Chicago IndyCar race was already scheduled as the season finale, this race was a non-championship event for the IndyCars. Ryan Briscoe took the win when Will Power crashed while leading. Bob Jenkins was the commentator while Jon Beekhuis was the pit reporter, which I believe is the final time both were on ESPN before they moved to Versus the next year. The second race of the 2010 IZOD IndyCar series was ran at the great ST Petersburg circuit. An eventful race for Brits Dan Wheldon (big crash) and Dario Franchitti (eventful is the right word) among others. Will Power took a lights-to-flag win, follwed by 4th place starter Justin Wilson and Ryan Briscoe, who made a charge from 19th on the grid.

(CBS/AP) LAS VEGAS — Indianapolis 500 winner Dan Wheldon died Sunday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway after his car became ensnared in a fiery 15-car pileup, flew over another vehicle and landed in a catch fence just outside turn 2 The 33-year-old racer was a two-time Indy winner, including this year's race. Three other drivers, including championship contender Will Power, were hurt in the pileup during Lap 11. Wheldon was airlifted from the track to University Medical Center; about two hours later, his colleagues were told of his death by IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard, who said Wheldon's injuries were "unsurvivable." "One minute you're joking around at driver intros. The next, Dan's gone," said Dario Franchitti, whose wife, actress Ashley Judd, had to bring him a box of tissues. "I lost, we lost, a good friend. Everybody in the IndyCar series considered him a friend. He was such a good guy. He was a charmer." With the race cancelled, drivers, many sobbing openly, took part in a five-lap salute around the oval in honour of one of the sport's biggest stars. The race was only minutes old when Wheldon, who started at the back of the 34-car field and was in position for a US $5-million payday if he had won, couldn't steer clear of a wreck that started when two cars touched tires. Within seconds, several cars burst into flames and debris covered the track nearly halfway up the straightaway. Some points of impact were so devastating workers had to patch holes in the asphalt. www.timesofearth.com Las Vegas - British driver Dan Wheldon has been killed in a massive crash at the Las Vegas 300 IndyCar series finale after his car was embroiled in a 15-car pile-up on the race track. Wheldon, winner of the Indianapolis 500 in May, died after his car was sent airborne over another car and clipped the catch fencing during the race on Sunday. The 33-year-old, who began IndyCar racing in 2002, was series champion in 2005 and also won the Indy 500 that year. Three other drivers, including championship contender Will Power, were hurt in the pile-up. Wheldon was airlifted from the track to University Medical Centre; about two hours later, his colleagues were told of his death. "IndyCar is very sad to announce that Dan Wheldon has passed away from unsurvivable injuries,'' Randy Bernard, the IndyCar chief executive, said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family today. IndyCar, its drivers and owners, have decided to end the race.'' In his honour, drivers took part in a five-lap salute around the oval. IndyCar has not had a fatality since Paul Dana was killed at Homestead in 2006. He died after a crash in a morning warmup. Sunday's wreck left smoldering cars and debris littered nearly halfway up the straightaway of the 2.4km track. The track was red-flagged following the accidents while crews worked on fences and removed smashed cars. Wheldon started in the back of the pack but quickly worked his way through the 34-car field before the wreck. "It was ...
