"The Monster Mile"

Located: Dover, Delaware (about 65 miles south of Philadelphia)
Opened: July 6, 1969

Track Length: 1 mile paved oval
Banking: 24 degrees in the turns --- 9 degrees in the straightaways

Trivia: Taking in a race at Dover Downs International Speedway often makes for a loud experience, as the noise reverberates off the aluminum seating.
The surface of the track used to be asphalt, but was later changed to a concrete surface, creating a much rougher ride for the racers.
