Ford Racing TV takes a look at the start of the 2012 GRAND AM Series season. First up is Krohn Racing who returns to the Daytona International Speedway for the 50th Anniversary of the Rolex 24 At Daytona, January 26-29, 2012, with many familiar faces behind the wheel of the No. 76 Krohn Racing Proto-Auto Ford Lola. Team owner/driver Tracy W. Krohn has entered the twice-around-the-clock endurance race with regular co-driver, Swede Nic Jönsson, Krohn Racing Daytona standout and former Formula One ace, Brazilian Ricardo Zonta, and American teenage racing sensation, NASCAR star and former Krohn Racing regular Colin Braun. The foursome previously all drove at the 2010 Rolex 24 with Krohn Racing to a fourth place finish, one of two (2008) since the team's inception in 2006. The 2012 year will mark Krohn Racing's seventh appearance as a team at the Rolex 24 At Daytona. Krohn and Jönsson have competed in all six previous events. Zonta will make his fifth appearance, competing each year since 2008. This year will be Braun's fourth appearance with the Krohn team (2006, 2007, and 2010). All four Krohn Racing drivers have been on the podium at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but have yet to take that step at the Rolex 24 At Daytona.

Essa o Ricardo Zonta está perdido até hoje... Viu dois carros o passar um de cada lado, na Esquerda, Schumacher e na Direita, Hakkinen. Dos dois, o filandês levou a melhor, ou seja, passou Schumacher e Zonta ao mesmo tempo. Zonta era retardatário, Schumacher e Hakkinen disputavam a liderança.

At Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California on August 20, 2006, Toyota F1 test driver Ricardo Zonta set a new unofficial lap record of 1'06.309, however, this was in an exhibition, not a qualifying or race session.[10][11] The official record time is 1'07.722, set by CART driver Helio Castroneves in a Penske Champ Car in qualifying for the 2000 CART Honda Grand Prix of Monterey. The Toyota record was eclipsed by another unofficial mark set March 10, 2007 by Sébastien Bourdais, who lapped in 1'05.880 piloting the Newman/Haas/Lanigan Panoz DP-01 during Champ Car Spring Training. Much is written about the dwindling of overtaking in modern Formula One. Don't tell Mika Häkkinen, who in 2000, performed the greatest modern undertaking move on a momentarily hapless Michael Schumacher. It was a late August day in 2000 at the Belgian Grand Prix and reigning champion Häkkinen of McLaren was chasing Michael Schumacher to retake his lead. With only four races left in the season, the two double world champions were head to head in the points as Schumacher was inching ever closer to bringing Ferrari its first drivers' title since Jody Scheckter's—21 years before. The race, held on the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit, was a wet-dry affair which Häkkinen had started from pole. After an error by McLaren in tire strategy and a spin on a wet patch of asphalt, Schumacher overtook him for the lead. However, his Ferrari was set up for high downforce, which is good for a wet track but not so good when that track—one of the fastest on the racing calendar, where a high downforce setup is a serious drag in the straights—starts to dry up. A few laps later, Häkkinen was right on Schumacher's tail and made a move on him at the end of the Kemmel Straight, a long, 200+ MPH section immediately after the famous Eau Rouge corner. Schumacher wasn't about to let him pass, forcing Häkkinen to actually clip the grass by the side of the track. Numa disputa emocionante até os últimos metros, Cacá Bueno, da equipe RBR Mattheis, segurou Ricardo Maurício e venceu a 10ª etapa da Stock Car, em Londrina (veja no vídeo ao lado). Max Wilson, companheiro de Ricardinho na equipe RC, completou o pódio em terceiro. Com a vitória, o tricampeão da Stock Car assumiu a liderança da temporada, com 255 pontos, sete a mais que Max, e se credenciou definitivamente para brigar pelo tetra. - A corrida para mim começou com a pole de sábado. Quase fiquei fora da segunda parte do treino classificatório, mudamos o carro todo e conseguimos o primeiro lugar do grid. Hoje, foi uma batalha das melhores com o Ricardinho, venci, assumi a liderança, mas esses sete pontos de vantagem não são definitivos. Tenho dois monstros (Max e Ricardinho) na minha cola.
